Handling and Storage
The pre-insulated pipeline may be handled manually, by means of a fork lift truck, automobile crane, eventually of other lifting device. Owing to damage possibility of the protection layer it is forbidden to use steel cables, chains and the like.
At actual handling, i.e. at loading, transport, unloading, storage and installation, damage of PE coat must be prevented. For these operations textile or synthetic handling girths are to be used. Loading of the pre-insulated pipeline is secured by the manufacture and shipping is done by means of lorries, eventually of railway wagons.
In the course of storage at the customer the pre-insulated pipeline must be stored at least on a flat, hard surface cleared of sharps objects that may damage the protection coat. More suitable way is a roofed-in surface, especially for PIP equipped with monitoring wires. For storage of the pre-insulated pipeline for temperatures 180 and 300 oC a roofed-in surface is required. The same is valid for accessories, like expansion cushions, couplings and the like, it is necessary to store them in dry premises. Polyurethane for final foaming of couplings must be placed in tempered storage rooms – it mustn't freeze. These premises must meet the "Safety Regulation".
PIP may be stored up to height maximum 1,5 m properly secured sideways.
Fittings are stored under same conditions, but only in one layer.
